Description
Undergraduate students thrive with mentorship and research experience. SLHS at Cal State East Bay is piloting a summer research experience where undergraduates in the major will earn a stipend to spend four weeks working part-time on a faculty-mentored research project. The experience will give them useful insights into the field and into how research drives innovative practices, as well as mentoring and a set of skills to include in their graduate school application. We have funds available to offer this opportunity to three students. With your support, we hope to be able to accept three more.
Donations are applied to...
Most of our students work while they get their education. A stipend of $1080, equivalent to approximately 60 work hours, will allow a student to be paid for career-relevant and discipline relevant work. $3250 will fund three summer undergraduate research experiences.
Why are donations necessary?
Undergraduates will learn research methods, get hands-on experience in the field and have structured opportunities to discuss career possibilities with faculty and graduate students. Participating in programs like this positively impacts graduation rates and overall student success.
