Description

The Gowns for Grads program was initiated in 2019 when a faculty member met with a student who was not planning to attend commencement ceremonies because they could not afford a cap and gown. The student was working a full time job and part-time job while balancing a full course load and making the honor roll for multiple semesters. Sharing the bond of being first-generation students at CSUEB, the faculty member went with the student to Grad Fest to purchase a cap and gown to allow the student to fully participate in commencement and celebrate their accomplishments with their friends and family.

Recognizing that this student's experience was not isolated, Gowns for Grads was started. The program has been funded since 2020 with generous donations, providing over 250 caps, gowns, and tassels to students in need. Thank you for your consideration of donating to assist our future CSUEB alumni in participating in their commencement ceremonies and able to proudly wear their caps and gowns.

Donations are applied to...

No donation is too small! Our $2,000 goal will provide a cap, gown, and tassel to approximately 20 students, allowing them to celebrate their accomplishments in regalia at commencement ceremonies with their peers.

Why are donations necessary?

While our students look towards a bright future, the reality isn't always as grand as financial hardships can affect graduation plans. Not every student who graduates can pay for a cap, gown, and tassel to actively participate in their commencement ceremony on campus.
